It was a really good day to run a cross country meet in Park City last Friday. South Summit performed their very best. For the boys, Braxton Booth had the best time with an 18:21.0. Braxton finished 18th overall out of 309 boys. Other South Summit boys include Koven Card running the 3 miles in 19:00 even (46th), Sam Galati with a 19:26 (66th), Stuart Card with a 20:10, Jared Leary 20:56, Brevin Riehl 21:30, Denney Simmons 21:46, Keaton Crandall 22:29, Julio Campos 25:22, and Parker Booth 26:11. Keaton, a Junior, set his PR, as did Freshman Denney Simmons, continuing his streak of running faster every meet. All the boys expect to improve their times to compete for state.
As for the girls, Vicki Perona had the best time with a 24:15.6. Vicki finished 59th out of 142. Callie Woolstenhulme ran a 26:43, Katelyn Simmons ran a 27:30, Katie Lewis 29:52, and Jillian Tillett ran a 29:58.
Finally, a shout out to Katelyn Lewis for being a personal coach for Jillian Tillett. Katelyn was not feeling well but decided to run with Jillian to help her get a solid time. The Wildcat Cross Country team is going to make a run at region and state, and the next cross country meet will be Wednesday October 4th in Orem.
