XC Team Finishes with a Sprint

The South Summit Cross Country team had a successful region meet Wednesday. The team did not qualify, but Braxton Booth and Koven Card earned 2 of the 3 individual spots for the state meet. The course was about two and a half laps around Big Cottonwood Park, twisting every direction possible with a ton of

Wildcats at Titan Invite

It was a very exciting day for the South Summit Cross Country team! We competed at the Titan Cross Country Meet at Lakeside Park in Orem. We had a nice, flat, grassy course to run on this meet compared to last week’s hilly, dirt trails. It was a small meet with just a few other

XC at PC

It was a really good day to run a cross country meet in Park City last Friday.  South Summit performed their very best. For the boys, Braxton Booth had the best time with an 18:21.0. Braxton finished 18th overall out of 309 boys. Other South Summit boys include Koven Card running the 3 miles in

Judge hosts XC at Wheeler Farm

The XC meet hosted by Judge Memorial was held at the Wheeler Historic Farm on Sept. 20th.  This meet was one of my favorites because it was a straightforward course with a lot of scenery.  The whole team did great, we ended up scoring 4th place, only 5 points behind Judge Memorial.  We also beat Summit

Grantsville XC Invite

The XC team headed west on Wednesday to run the open region meet at Grantsville.  The scenic 3 mile course looped around a reservoir, with the finish stretch being the boat ramp.  Our exchange student from Italy, Maria, had a great race, taking 6th overall and another minute and 20 seconds off her PR!  Elizabeth

SS’s XC Meet at High Star

South Summit XC held their home meet at High Star Ranch on Wed. August 23rd.  What will likely be the toughest course of the season, it wound through the sage brush decked hills on mostly single track trails usually reserved for mountain biking.  Thanks to High Star Ranch for the great venue, truly putting the

Straw Bales and Grassy Trails

Everyone on South Summit’s Cross Country team was very grateful for our third meet of the season, the Westlake High School Grass Relays. The course was fun and pretty interesting, being our only race of the year to have straw bales to jump over. The racers made two one-mile laps, the bales coming up multiple

XC Off to a Running Start

SSHS’s first XC meet of the season was run at Highland High School on Thursday.  The first 2 miles of this course are the same as the Utah State meet in October.  Sugar House Park’s course is a good place to start and end your season, there were over 2,300 runners signed up in 8

Three Wildcats run at State XC Meet

On October 19, SSHS Cross Country qualifiers headed to State at Sugar House Park. Our two girls, Senior Abby Laswell and Junior Cassidy Eiting, shot into the top 25 runners in the first quarter mile.  Their experience and training paid off as the girls seemed to easily make their way up the hills and hold their
